The places we're responsible for — our homes, our workplaces, our churches — tend to run reactively. Things get handled once they've already become a problem, because nothing is surfacing what's coming next.
Align8088 exists to change that. We build the GSD Series: focused apps that give each of these areas a plan, not just a record, so upkeep stays smooth instead of piling up into a crisis.
Look ahead, not just back. Every app is built around a dashboard of what's coming up, not a database of what already happened.
Built for groups, not individuals. Homes, businesses, and churches are run by several people. Everyone should work from the same page.
Focused beats bloated. Each app does a few things that matter to its audience, and does them well.
Your records are yours. The history of your home or organization should outlast any single app.
I've lost count of the apps I've downloaded, set up, and abandoned within a week. Not because they couldn't do enough, but because they tried to do everything. Too many menus. Too many settings. Too many steps between me and the one thing I actually needed. Somewhere along the way, a lot of software forgot who it was for.
I started Align8088 because I believe the most useful tools are the ones you barely notice. They show you what matters, quietly handle the rest, and get out of your way. Building something simple is harder than building something big. It means saying no to features that look impressive in a demo but just add clutter. It means sweating small details, like the wording on a button or the number of taps it takes to finish a task, so you never have to think about them.
Thoughtful, to me, means designing for real life. Busy people. Shared responsibilities. Days when you have five minutes, not fifty. It means building for the person who isn't "good with technology" just as much as the person who is. If someone needs a tutorial to get started, we haven't done our job.
That's the standard I hold every app we make to: simple enough to use on day one, thoughtful enough to keep using for years. If we get that right, our tools become what they should be. Not one more thing to manage, but one less thing to worry about.
Thanks for being here.
